Theme for 2017? The year of Scary

I’ve decided to pick a theme for this year and I chose……Drum roll please……..

 SCARY!

I’m not referring to the impending doom that is slated to take office on the 20th of this month.

I’m referring to you (yes you!)

  • Starting that business
  • Starting that blog/vlog/podcast
  • Traveling
  • Weight loss, weight gain, getting in shape
  • & just going for your goals in general

I’m going to keep it real, putting yourself out there is nerve-wracking and well, scary as hell. Just thinking about it makes my anxiety flare.

But I firmly believe that you can only grow in uncomfortable places. We all know amazingly talented chefs, artists, actors, musicians, writers, poets, people with great business ideas, etc sitting at home or stuck at some dead-end job simply because they’re afraid to even try (hell, this may even be you). Sometimes we can truly be our own worst enemy.

Do you know the only difference between you and Oprah, Beyoncé, Denzel, Mark Zuckerburg, Bill Gates (plug-in anybody else that’s successful), etc? Is that they actually tried and obviously never gave up! So why cant you? I’m not saying its going to be easy, I’m not even saying you’re going to get whatever you are going for on the first try. But what do you really have to lose?

Writing this blog? Scary as hell! Giving people the opportunity to read (or not read at all) some of my inner most thoughts? My ideas? and comment on it. BUT, I can honestly say that if nobody read anything I ever wrote it wouldn’t matter because this is a liberating experience in itself for me. So here’s to me crossing off one of my New Year resolutions only 7 days in the game.

  1. Get in shape
  2. Save $12,000
  3. Start a blog
  4. Start a vlog
  5. Pay off credit card debt (current balance $711- read about how I plan on saving up the money to pay this off here 90 Day Fiscal Fast)

So start that blog, open that business, get on that plane, get in the gym, do every thing that makes you scared as hell because whether it brings you success or failure I guarantee the experience will change you for the better. To help jump-start my goals this year I have enlisted the help of life coach extraordinaire Kristy Love.

kristy-loveA life coach is a person who counsels and encourages clients on matters of having to do with careers or personal challenges (Oxford dictionary). I’m excited to work with Kristy over the next 30 days. We had our first meeting earlier this evening. Some of the things we discussed were:

  • Discovering my “why”
  • Creating a gratitude journal
  • Discovering what I’m passionate about.

Kristy has a show called My Media Melody where she encourages people to follow their vision, purpose, and goals. Her new season just dropped you can check out her website for more information and get tips and inspiration on how to jump start your own goals by clicking the hyperlink or copying and pasting this link –>  http://www.kristylovemedia.com/about

Thanks for stopping by!
With love,
Cherise

Discussion Questions:

  1. What are some things that you want to do that you’ve been holding yourself back from?
  2. Did you set any New Years resolutions? If so, what progress have you made so far? What are you doing to make sure your goals are reached?

Id love to hear from you!

Cherise is an entitled millennial whose parents told her from birth she would be great. This drive to be great has caused her to excel academically receiving two degrees at the age of 25 and $85,000 of debt. She still has no (insert cuss word) clue on what to do with her expensive degrees or her life in general. You can typically catch her dodging calls from Sallie Mae, sleeping, or updating this blog.
